8-Speed Transmission
Standard with both engines, the 8-speed automatic transmission makes for smooth upshifts and downshifts when it's time to accelerate or while powering over demanding trails.

Standard across the entire lineup, 4x4 capability will help you battle the elements on your epic adventures. The system disperses power to all four wheels to help add traction and minimize wheelslip when the going gets tough.
Advanced 4x4 with Twin-Clutch RDU
The 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands driveline is engineered to balance off-road capability with on-road performance. The twin-clutch rear-drive unit can send torque to a single rear wheel even when the other three wheels have no traction. It can divert virtually all rear axle torque to either rear wheel. In concert with the vehicle's selectable G.O.A.T. Modes, the hardware introduces the ability to make the vehicle more agile on loose terrain.
G.O.A.T. Modes™
Adjust your drive mode to match the environment. The Ford Bronco Sport features five standard G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain): Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco and Normal. The ever-capable Badlands model comes with two additional modes: Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl.
Off-Road Suspension
The Bronco Sport suspension system – optimized to help drivers maintain vehicle composure while aggressively taking on rugged terrain – is highlighted by uniquely tuned front struts with hydraulic rebound stops designed to provide a quieter, less jarring off-road experience. In addition, 46 mm diameter monotube rear shocks provide improved response and more comfort off-road, while softer springs and anti-roll bars provide greater articulation over obstacles.
Approach and Departure Angles
Transition from flat ground to steep inclines and vice versa. Badlands can comfortably maneuver off-road with a 29.9-degree approach angle and 33.2-degree departure angle.

Bronco Sport Badlands isn't one to shy away from a challenge. When you've got 23.6-inches of water-fording capability* and the soul of a Bronco, the path to adventure is bound to be a fun a one.

Stay clear of sharp rocks, fallen branches and other obstacles. The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2.0L with 235/65R17 tires has unsurpassed ground clearance of 8.8-inches. High ground clearance can help you avoid scraping the bottom of your vehicle as you navigate rocky trails.
All-Terrain Tires
Badlands comes with 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. They're tough, capable and designed to handle what nature throws in their way. Shown here with available 17-inch Carbonized Gray-painted low gloss aluminum wheels and available 235/65/R17 All Terrain Off-Road tires.
Safari-Style Roof
The extra height provided by the extended roof means more space for your boards and head room for tall friends. The safari-style roof even gives you enough cargo room to fit two bikes standing up. On top, the roof-rack structure for Bronco Sport can handle up to 150 lbs. with the standard steel roof.
